The National Veterinary Institute of Ethiopia recognizes the joint FAO/IAEA Centre of the United Nations

On the occasion of its 60th Anniversary, the National Veterinary Institute (NVI) of Ethiopia recognizes the IAEA of the joint FAO/IAEA centre for its significant contribution to NVI during its 60-year journey. Dr Takele Abayneh, Director General of the institute forwarded the recognition award to the Dr Dongxin Feng, director of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre on the special award session held on 23 August 2024 on African and Asian Veterinary Laboratory Directors Meeting held at IAEA head quarter, Vienna, Austria.

During the award ceremony, Dr Takele mentioned he feels honored to forward the recognition award and indicated that the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre has played key roles in capacity building of the research and diagnostic laboratories of NVI through donation state of art equipment’s, technical training of laboratory staffs and supply of reagents and supplies.  Congratulating NVI for its success, Dr Dongxin Feng expressed her appreciation for NVI in recognizing IAEA and indicated that the recognition shows the one of the fruits of the Centre which will also be celebrating its the 60th anniversary in 2024.  She added, the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre is committed in supporting NVI as well as other African and Asian Vet. Laboratories.  

The recognition session was attended by Dr Farai Muchadeyi, Section Head of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre, Dr Viskam Wijewardana, Head of Animal Production and Health Laboratory (AHPL) of the joint Centre, Dr Charles Lamien, Scientific Secretary of the Centre, representatives from VETLab donors, staffs of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre and APHL, and Vet. Lab directors from over 30 African and Asian countries.
